Satan’s Five ‘I Wills’

Are You Sure? Teaching Blog #3b

Today we are going to look at two very important passages. One is from Isaiah and the other is found in Ezekiel. We’ll begin in Isaiah 14:12-16 with five statements known as “Satan’s Five I Will’s,” where he claims to be independent of God. This independent thinking process comes from the original sin which was not committed by man. The original sin was Satan’s fall from heaven when he gave no regard to God and claimed to be just like God. Satan declared he had made himself and his supernatural abilities and strengths were of his own making. His ability to strive above his appointed position was due to his greatness. Can you see how this mode of operating has infiltrated the human race? Satan is saying that he does not need God because he will ascend to where God is. In other words, “I can make my own way in life without God.”

God’s response to Satan’s way of thinking is found in Ezekiel 28:11-18 and it is very important to understand how God crafts His answer. I want you to notice these Biblical responses, “I created you, I made you, everything you have and everything you are is from Me.” Throughout the Bible we read several times that God is the One who created all things and this includes Satan. We have to look at the heart of God in His response because it is the same response He has toward humanity today.

The Bible tells us that Satan was corrupted by his beauty, wealth, genius, capabilities and strengths. So in himself, he thought all of his gifts were from him, but like everyone else he was a created being. You see, humanity thinks the same way in that the strong and the wise get to that position of their own doing, but it is God who creates everybody. God gives all of us, saved and unsaved, natural gifts and abilities and talents and the wherewithal in life. Yet most of humanity has no regard to God as our Creator and no regard to God as the authority over His creation to determine the laws and regulations that govern His creation. Then, what happens is creation begins to use and abuse what God gave them and they do it without any regard to God. The same fall that Satan had is the fall that man had except God is going to come in and fix it for humanity. God is going to make it right for mankind. Amen.

Be Blessed,

Sebastian

Don’t Be Lulled To Sleep

Don't Get This Wrong! Teaching Blog #3

The Word of God tells us in, Romans 8:33-39, that God has proven His love for us and we should never question it. Paul then goes on to say that nothing can separate us from the love of God. Whether it be peril, tribulations, famine or whatever else is going on. All of these things are external pressures and circumstances that come upon humanity. However, Paul tells us not to equate the pressure, trauma and tribulation to God forsaking us or not loving us. We must understand that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus if we are living our life for Him.

I want you to understand that by studying eschatology and end times there is a great blessing in knowing what is coming next. Believe me, there is a great blessing in heeding these words: be watchful, be prepared, be alert, be ready, be sober, and understand what is going on in the environment! Don’t be lulled to sleep by humanity and don’t get too busy to pray or to read your Bible or to attend Church. Always keep your relationship with Jesus Christ fresh and fervent. Continue to walk in the Word and understand the Word because the more revelation you have, along with understanding end times, the better prepared you are going to be.

The Bible tells us in, 2 Peter 3:3-4, do not be a scoffer and do not buy into the scoffer’s ways. People tell me all the time that the return of the Lord is not going to be in our generation. I respond by asking them: How do you know? Because if it is not in our generation or if His return is not in the forefront of our minds and we are not teaching it, then tell me, how will the next generation know what to do? Are we going to leave them without an understanding? Listen, it was very important to the Believers in the first century to pass their knowledge onto the next generation and it must be even more important for us today to follow their example! Amen.

Be Blessed,

Sebastian

No Regard To God

Are You Sure? Teaching Blog #3a

The world population today is seven plus billion people who, for the most part, are walking in spiritual death. They are, “…walking according to the course of the world,” (Ephesians 2:2). These are the same people who are operating countries and opening businesses all over the world, however, God is completely absent from their minds. They have no relationship with Him and we learn in the Word of God that the world is being driven by fallen man. The term, “the course of the world,” means global decisions are being made by man without regard to God. Parliaments all over the world down to individual families are mainly being directed by humanity without any regard toward God.

The Bible also tells us that we are moved, “…according to the prince of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,” (Ephesians 2:2). The prince of the air is Satan and it is his voice that has become more predominate in humanity. Satan’s voice is more normal to us than God’s voice and this all because of the absence of God in our lives. It is Satan’s voice that lines up with fallen man more than the voice of God. Man is more susceptible to be driven by Satan because his voice is more obvious to us. We will learn more about this as we go through our study. As we continue to read in Ephesians 2 we learn that we fulfill the lust of the flesh because that is our human nature.

When we were alive to God our spirit dominated the presence of who we were in the earth. In the Garden it was Adam’s spirit that drove him toward God. His relationship with God was direct and spiritual. But when Adam fell, his spirit died and he was no longer alive to God. Adam was reduced to his soul and his mind which is his will, intellect, memory, reasoning power and of course his physical body. It was from that point on that man is driven by his five senses and whatever gives him pleasure. You see, we build in our lives moral boundaries but those boundaries are not God’s boundaries. Man is making decisions based on being disconnected from God. Can you see this happening all over the world today?

When you put all of this together you have the human race running away from the things of God. Clearly, Satan is the voice of the Atheist, the Agnostic, the Buddhist and the Muslim. He is the voice of all others whether it is a religion or social group that are not of God. When you look at things, humanity is completely lost because the earth is void of God. Except of course, for those who have had an awakening to the truth and who have found salvation through Jesus Christ.

Sebastian.

God’s Playbook

Don't Get This Wrong! Teaching Blog #2

Jesus tells the Apostle John in, Revelation 1:3, “Blessed is the man who reads this book and retains these things in his knowledge for the time is at hand.” The Book of Revelation is the last book in the Bible and when you study it you learn that it is filled with different transactions happening on the earth and in heaven. Now, the things we read in this book will give us pause because it speaks of great carnage and disasters. And, we wonder how we can be blessed in all of this. Well, let me draw a correlation between end times and Moses because God told Moses the order of things that were going to happen during the ten plagues in Exodus.

For instance, Moses knew the Nile would turn into blood and there would be frogs, lice, flies and so on. However, for each of those events God told His servant Moses beforehand what would happen, and then, Moses in turn gave the people what God was going to do next. This way they were able to adjust their lives and prepare themselves. We learn through Scripture that during some of the plagues they were completely protected while in other cases God supplied them with provisions to get through the disaster. Now, as the plagues came upon the Egyptians it caused great turmoil within their society and they did not know what was going to happen next, but God’s people had peace.

So, if you are here on earth during this time and you have the Bible and you understand the Word of God then you will know what is coming next. Having this knowledge ahead of time will be similar to the days of Moses and the ten plagues. This revelation will allow you to be prepared, and then, you will have the knowledge to teach and preach to those who are lacking. You will have God’s playbook and you will know what is going to happen. It is amazing to know what a blessing it is that Jesus gave us this revelation and that God will give us whatever we need to get through the days of tribulation! Amen.

Be Blessed,

Sebastian

The Image of Man

Are You Sure? Teaching Blog #2

We will open today in the Book of Genesis where God restored the earth and created Adam. Before Eve was brought out of Adam, God had told him not to eat of the tree in the midst of the garden because if you do, the penalty would be death. In the original language we read the word “death” twice, meaning, that by the first death you will experience the second death and this warning is repeated to us twice. Then we read a very key statement from Satan in, Genesis 3:4, “You will not surely die.” This is the first lie Satan speaks to mankind. It was a lie that said even though God told you not to eat from the tree because you will die; Satan tells them they will not surely die. In other words, there are no consequences to your actions or you don’t need to listen or adhere to the Word of God. This is the same lie Satan tells mankind today.

Satan lies again and tells them they will be as gods determining what is right and wrong and what is good and evil. He is saying that you will be like God. In other words, don’t fear God, don’t fear the consequences of disobedience, and don’t glorify God as Creator. This lie is telling man that you can go above your Creator and use God’s creation as you see fit because you are the god of your environment. When they partake of the fruit, I want you to notice nothing happened when Eve ate, but when Adam ate you will see that it triggered a cascading event to the fall of mankind. I want you to get the mindset of this because all sin, all sin, comes from this thinking process whether it be through ignorance or through knowledge. It is thinking that when we disobey God’s Word, with or without intent, we are putting ourselves above the Creator. We are putting ourselves above His authority to lay out what is right and wrong and having the ability to judge His creation. This puts us in the position of using and abusing His creation.

We learn immediately after their disobedience in Genesis 3:6-8 their whole environment changed and man had now died spiritually. Man was not in right standing with God and as a result he died soulishly in his mind. Adam and Eve then experienced the same emotions and things that we experience today. They felt depressed, low self-esteem and fear, they wanted to hide and cover their shame and guilt. These feelings were new and once they sinned their environment changed and they were separated from their Creator. They were reduced to a fleshly state, a human state, similar to what we are today.

In Genesis 2:7, we learn that God formed man’s body from the dust of the ground and man became a living soul. This is the spirit, the soul, and the body of man. All three of these parts died when they sinned in the Garden. They died spiritually which caused soulish death or death in our soul and mind. Then years later Adam died physically. Man was now reduced and separated from God and the separation brought about judgment, wrath, and condemnation. Man was in a state where God had to come, in His mercy, and cover him by making animal skins. From that point forward everyone born of Adam and Eve, born of man, was born in the same image of fallen man, not in the image of God.

Be Blessed,

Sebastian

Why We Study End Times

Don't Get This Wrong! Teaching Blog #1

This teaching blog is the first of many from my new workbook series titled, Don’t Get This Wrong! I want to begin by answering two very important questions. First, why do we study eschatology or the end times? And second, why do we study the return of the Lord? Well, we study end times because as Christians we are called to be looking for the return of the Lord and the Bible tells us that as far back as the first century the followers of Jesus were looking for His return. So this is something that Christians are called to do and in order to gain a better understanding of end times we must study what the Word of God tells us. However, not only is our generation called to study and learn eschatology, but we are also called to teach it to the next generation so they, like us, will also be looking for the His return.

In his closing letter Peter tells those that he raised up in the Lord to always be stirred up in their faith and to remember the Word of God. This is so that when Peter dies they can take over his place and carry on. Then he warns in, 2 Peter 3:1-7, do not listen to scoffers, do not be persuaded by them, and do not buy into what they say. Instead, understand that the same God Who spoke of judgment in the days of Noah is the same God Who spoke the judgment that is yet to come. It is very clear that Peter is correlating the days of Noah to the return of the Lord.

Now remember this is in the first century and in, 2 Peter 3:11-14, he tells us to live as if you are going to meet Christ any minute because one day all of the things around you will be dissolved. This is why you should be looking for, hastening for, and yearning for the return of the Lord. So then, how should you live your life? You should live your life like you are going to meet the Lord any day because let me tell you when your heart stops beating that is your day! Amen.

Be Blessed,

Sebastian

Watchers of Truth - Are You Sure

Shame or Glory?

Are You Sure? Teaching Blog #1

Hello and welcome to the first of many blogs on my new teaching curriculum titled: “Are You Sure?” For the next several months I will be publishing a series of studies on salvation. Our opening scripture today is, Mark 14:17-32, where we find Jesus and the apostles seated at the last supper. I want you to picture the twelve around the table, eating and drinking, eager to celebrate the Passover meal, but for Jesus it is a very solemn time. You can feel the weight of it because He has been ministering for about three years now and His time is at hand.

As they begin their meal, Jesus throws this statement out, “…Assuredly, I say to you, one of you who eats with Me will betray Me” (Verse 17). The apostles look at each other and begin to question, wondering who among them is weak. Clearly, there is doubt in the room. Next, Jesus tells them it would be better if the betrayer had never been born. After the meal, Jesus tells them an event is going to happen that night and it will cause them to stumble and scatter. Peter stands and declares, “Not me, Lord, I will never deny You.” But Jesus tells him, “This very night you are going to deny Me three times.”

We all know the story and at the same table, is Peter and another man named Judas, and one will end his life in shame while the other goes on to glory. Now, throughout this teaching series I will point out to you the great difference between these two apostles. You will learn why Judas failed to recognize who Jesus was, while at the same time, Peter received the revelation knowledge that Jesus was the Christ, the Messiah.

Judas worked in Jesus’ ministry and he was recognized as a Church leader. When Jesus sent them out, two by two, Judas was with the twelve and he was with the seventy who went out ministering to others. Judas was there when Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. He was there when Jesus walked on water. You see, Judas and Peter witnessed the same miraculous things. Yet when Jesus told them, one of you will betray Me, no one pointed to Judas because he fit in and acted like he belonged. So what was the defect in Judas? It had to be something internal because there was no difference on the outside.

Today, I want to leave you with this thought…

Shortly after the last supper, what was Judas doing? He was betraying Jesus. What was Peter doing? He was denying Jesus. Think about it, because one went on to glory and ministry, while the other was left hanging from a tree in shame.

Be blessed,

Sebastian.
